Lustres are based on metal compounds dissolved in organic solvents. On smooth substrates they produce high-gloss decorations with a metallic iridescent colour character. Lustres are suitable for the decoration of porcelain, stoneware, earthenware and glass.

Application
Thoroughly remove the object from contamination. Apply thinly with a fine-haired brush, do not smoothen. The lustre should run on the object, so that  in this way its smooth, shining appearance will be increase after the firing. Protect from dust during drying.
Even on matt glazes, but loses its iridescent effect. Start the firing above approx. 400 ° C slowly with a good ventilation.

Miscibility
All lustres are miscible, but an unexpected colour change can occur.

Firing temperature
Porcelain:  780-800 °C
Earthenware:   640-740 °C
Stoneware: 740-780 °C
Glass:         540 °C
On earthenware blistering can occur if fired to long or twice. Lustres soak into the glazes and provoke a glossy surface.

Agents effect specific effects on the lustre preparations. For this purpose, the desired agent is applied smoothly in a medium layer on a dried lustre application. The intensity of the respective effect depends on the layer strength, but also on the drying time - the longer the time, the finer the effects. A drying time of 1 to 2 hours has proven itself.
